‘One-O-Clock’ Fatally Shot by Police at Guest House in Montego Bay, St. James

Montego Bay, St James: A man sought by St. James police for the shooting death of one man and the shooting and wounding of two others at a shop in Tucker, St. James, on Tuesday night was fatally shot at a guest house in Montego Bay on Wednesday.

The slain gunman has been identified so far only as ‘One-O-Clock.’

He was being sought for the shooting death of 28-year-old Nigel Smith, a laborer from Red Square district, also in Tucker, and the shooting and wounding of a 24-year-old and a 55-year-old man, who have since been treated at Cornwall Regional Hospital and admitted.

Reports are that the police acted on intelligence received that the man known as ‘One-O-Clock’ was booked in a room at the Ashanti Inn, located on Thompson Street in Uptown Montego Bay.

The lawmen went to the location and reported that upon entering the room occupied by the now-deceased, he allegedly opened fire at them.

The fire was returned, and the accused man was fatally shot during the confrontation. An illegal handgun with several rounds of ammunition was taken from him.

Detectives also reported that about 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Smith and a group of men were at a shop in Red Square when they were approached by a man who brandished a handgun and opened fire, hitting them.

The man, who was later identified as the now-deceased ‘One-O-Clock,’ made his escape on foot. The police were summoned, and the injured men were transported to the hospital.

Smith died while being treated, while the other two victims were treated and admitted in stable condition.

The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) has commenced a probe into this latest fatal shooting.
