Police are investigating a deadly incident linked to a reported Sangster International Airport security breach in Montego Bay, St James, on Friday morning.
Reports indicate that the deceased, said to be a resident of the United States, gained unauthorized access to a restricted section of the airport near the fuel storage facility, prompting security concerns and a police response.
Law enforcement officers were reportedly called to the location after the man was spotted in the area. During the encounter, the individual allegedly attacked members of the police team.
The police opened fire, hitting the man during the confrontation.
He was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased as investigations into incident the continue.
