ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Two individuals are now in police custody following the discovery of cocaine at the FedEx building in Half Way Tree on Tuesday evening.
The seizure was made during an operation carried out by members of the Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID). Law enforcement sources indicate that the action stemmed from intelligence received about an alleged attempt to move cocaine through the courier facility.
Based on the tip-off, the location was placed under surveillance by investigators. It is further understood that early efforts to conduct a search were reportedly met with resistance. Officers later returned with the necessary warrants and proceeded with a formal search of the premises.
During that operation, the narcotics were uncovered.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the quantity or estimated street value of the cocaine seized. Investigations remain ongoing.
