St Catherine, Jamaica — The Police High Command has initiated an investigation into an incident at the Glengoffe Police Station in St Catherine, where a trainee constable accidentally shot himself on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. when the trainee, while adjusting his belt, placed his firearm on top of a motor vehicle. According to reports, as he went to retrieve the weapon, it fell to the ground and discharged, striking him.
The injured officer was quickly assisted and taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he remains hospitalized for treatment. His condition has not been disclosed, though he is said to be receiving medical care.
