A 19-year-old woman and her 2-year-old stepson were fatally stabbed in a tragic incident in West Haven, Connecticut, on Saturday night. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jevon Tyrese Fletcher, is alleged to have attacked his girlfriend, Hailey Miller, and his son, Ta’naj Fletcher, before attempting to flee the scene by jumping from a second-story window.
According to the West Haven Police Department, officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting screams from an apartment on Meloy Road around 8:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Miller and the toddler with multiple stab wounds; both were pronounced dead at the scene. Fletcher was found injured outside the apartment and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Fletcher has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of murder with special circumstances, and one count of risk of injury. He was arraigned on Tuesday, with bond set at $3 million, and is currently on suicide watch. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 13.
