The annual staging of Reggae Sumfest will be held in St. Ann for the first time in more than three decades since its inception. The festival was previously staged at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay, but following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, the venue sustained severe flood damage.
The devastation also affected several hotel rooms in the area. As a result, promoter Downsound Entertainment determined that neither the venue nor the hotel accommodations would be fully operational in time for the festival’s Saturday, July 18, 2026 staging.
The event will feature two of dancehall’s biggest stars, Vybz Kartel, representing Gaza, and Mavado, representing Gully, who are expected to be the main attractions for fans. Other performers include Jamal, Queen Ifrica, Ayetian, and several more.
The promoters will also pay tribute to the late reggae singer Fantan Mojah, who passed away earlier this week.
