Deadline Set for Police to Charge or Release Vlogger Jaii Frais

KINGSTON, Jamaica — April 17, 2026 — The Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court has ruled that vlogger Jhaedee Richards, popularly known as Jaii Frais, must either be formally charged or released by 6:00 p.m. today.

The directive was disclosed by attorney Isat Buchanan, who made an application earlier in the day seeking his client’s release.

Buchanan also noted that the court upheld a prior order for Richards to receive medical attention, indicating that he is to be transported to hospital for treatment. That order was initially issued on Wednesday when the court granted an extension of his detention at the request of the police.

Richards was taken into custody alongside music producer Jahvel Morrison, also known as Jahvy, following a shooting incident at the Big Wall after-Carnival event in St Andrew on Sunday.

The matter remains under active investigation.
