St. Thomas Police Officer and Businessman Charged: The St. Thomas police have apprehended and charged a police officer and a prominent businessman with Kidnapping, Robbery With Aggravation, and Breaches of the Corruption Act. The charges stem from an incident where they allegedly abducted a man in Golden Grove Meadows on Friday, May 3, and coerced him into handing over cash exceeding $2 million.
The accused individuals have been identified as 35-year-old police officer Raniel McGregor and 42-year-old businessman Lanny Pearcy of Dalvey district in St. Thomas.
According to reports, around 8:00 pm, the victim was at home when both accused persons arrived at the premises and claimed to be police officers.
Officer McGregor, assigned to the St. Thomas Division, and his accomplice purportedly robbed the victim of $2,150,000 in cash before forcibly detaining him for several hours. The victim was eventually released at another location within the community.
Upon the victim’s report to the authorities, both men were apprehended and subsequently charged.
