The police in St. Ann are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death of a male teacher who died in his sleep on Sunday night, after mysteriously returning home with apparent stab wounds to his head.
The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Courtney Evans of Shelly Road in Bamboo, St. Ann.
Reports indicate that on Sunday morning, Evans and his female companion went for a swim at a beach in St. Ann, where they spent most of the day. They returned home in the afternoon, after which Evans informed his companion that he was going out but returned shortly thereafter with blood on his clothing.
When questioned, Evans reportedly told his companion that he had fallen and hit his head, assuring her that he was fine and did not need to see a doctor.
It is further reported that Evans and his companion went to bed, but around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, she woke up to find Evans unresponsive.
The female raised an alarm and contacted the police. Upon arrival, Evans was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators revealed that Evans appeared to have been assaulted, with two stab wounds to his head, but they are awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination.
