A police constable assigned to the Transport Department of the Clarendon Police Division was found dead inside the May Pen Police Station on Monday evening.
According to preliminary reports, shortly before 6:00 p.m., fellow officers became concerned after they were unable to locate the constable. They forced open the door to an office, where he was discovered with a wound to his neck.
Police personnel remained at the rear of the station, which also houses the Clarendon Division headquarters, processing the scene into the night.
Sources indicated that the constable had recently been reassigned from frontline duties to the Transport Department following concerns about his mental health.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
