ST. MARY, Jamaica — Police have launched a manhunt for a prisoner who escaped from the Annotto Bay Police Station lock-up in St. Mary early Thursday morning.
The escapee has been identified as 23-year-old AJ Anthony McDonald of Islington, St. Mary. He was being held on a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon.
According to the police, McDonald allegedly escaped through a bathroom window after removing sections of it before fleeing the lock-up.
Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance in locating the fugitive. Anyone with information on McDonald’s whereabouts is being urged to contact the Annotto Bay Police at 876-996-2244, call the 119 police emergency number, or report to the nearest police station.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force is also reminding members of the public that harbouring a fugitive is a criminal offence and could result in prosecution.
