Overturned Molasses Truck Results in Massive Pile-up on Spur Tree Hill

Jamaica News, St Elizabeth: A molasses truck which overturned along a section of the Spur Tree Hill in St Elizabeth on Monday afternoon, April 30, resulted in a massive traffic pile-up for miles and thousands of persons stranded.

Several motorists told our news team that about 12:30 p.m. on Monday, the driver of the Molasses Truck was traveling from the Appleton Estate. On reaching a section of Spur Tree Hill, the driver lost control of the vehicle after it developed mechanical problems and overturned.

The truck overturned across the roadway causing a massive traffic pile-up for over five hours.  Persons traveling by that route including students coming from school and commuters were all left stranded.

1 Killed, 4 Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident along Mandela Highway 

A large number of police personnel were also deployed at the accident scene and along sections of the roadway in a bid to assist in directing traffic which was at a standstill.

The police stated that no one was hurt during the accident and the driver of the truck escaped with just minor injuries.
