ST ANN, Jamaica — A tragic incident involving two students at Ocho Rios High School has claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy following a confrontation on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Devonie Shearer, a resident of Buckfield Road in St Ann.
According to reports, Shearer and another male student became involved in a physical dispute on the school compound. During the altercation, the accused student allegedly used a metal chair to strike Shearer in the back of the head.
Shearer was rushed to hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
The student accused in the attack is currently in police custody after being turned over to authorities by his family. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
