A mobile phone seized from Constable Noel Maitland after his girlfriend Donna-Lee Donaldson went missing contained a new SIM card, the Home Circuit Court heard. A Jamaica Constabulary Force forensic analyst testified that the first message was a FLOW welcome text on July 26, 2022—one day before Maitland’s arrest. Subsequent messages showed a low balance, a $500 credit transfer, and activation of a two-day plan.
Maitland faces charges of murder and preventing the lawful burial of a corpse in connection with Donaldson, last seen at his New Kingston apartment on July 12, 2022. The forensic analyst extracted data from the phone on October 13, 2023, after receiving it from the CFCD exhibit storekeeper. Metadata, such as GPS or timestamps, was not available.
Donaldson’s mother reported her missing on July 13, 2022; her brother confirmed speaking with her via FaceTime on July 12. The trial, now 43 days in with 23 of 33 Crown witnesses called, was adjourned until Monday. Justice Leighton Pusey said a senior defence attorney is overseas and expressed hope for a trial conclusion in early 2025.
