US Coast Guard crews are searching waters off Nantucket, Massachusetts, after a medical evacuation aircraft carrying six people went missing during a flight from Bermuda to Boston early Saturday, October 3.
The Gulfstream G100 was operated by Canada-based Latitude Air Ambulance. Company spokesman Clarence Togeretz said those aboard were two pilots, two medical personnel, a patient and a family member.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a search-and-rescue alert at approximately 1:20 a.m. after losing contact with the aircraft. The flight had departed L.F. Wade International Airport in Bermuda and was expected to land at Boston Logan International Airport. Airport officials confirmed that it did not arrive as scheduled.
Aircraft and vessels have been deployed to locate the missing plane. The National Transportation Safety Board said it was gathering information about the incident, while the search continued.
