Woman Found dead with Knife In neck Identified as Loraine Davy

Mandeville, Manchester — Shock and grief have gripped the quiet, deep-rural community of Shirehampton, after the lifeless body of a woman was found early Tuesday morning with a knife lodged in her neck.

The deceased has been identified as Loraine Davy, a resident of Shirehampton — a small farming district located between Huntley and Maidstone i in Manchester.

According to police reports, Davy was last seen alive sometime after 9:00 p.m. on Monday night, when she reportedly left a nearby shop in the area. Residents stumbled upon her body along a lonely roadway early Tuesday morning and immediately alerted the police.

A photograph dated July 23, 2025, has since surfaced showing Davy during happier times — a stark contrast to the tragic end that has left family, friends, and neighbours in disbelief.

On Tuesday, a senior police source told McKoy’s News that a man, said to have had an estranged relationship with the victim, has been taken into custody for questioning.

So far, investigators have not disclosed a motive, but early indications point to a domestic-related dispute.

Police statistics show that as of Saturday, October 11, the parish of Manchester recorded 26 murders since the start of the year — down from 42 during the same period in 2024.

During last Thursday’s Manchester Municipal Corporation meeting, Superintendent Carey Duncan explained that most murders in the parish stem from interpersonal conflicts, rather than gang activities.

“We’re not seeing the same level of gang-related killings this year,” Superintendent Duncan said. “The murders we’re now recording are mostly domestic or dispute-driven — family members and neighbours turning on each other over simple disagreements.”

He went on to highlight two recent cases that underscore the troubling trend — one involving an uncle and nephew arguing over who should tie a cow, and another where cousins clashed over planting potato slips, both ending in deadly violence.

“We continue to urge citizens to find peaceful solutions to their disputes,” Duncan stressed.

The Manchester police say investigations into Davy’s death are ongoing.
