TikTok star Mainly Mannie has revealed he is HIV positive, sharing an emotional video from his hospital bed where he admitted he is struggling to walk.
Speaking from the hospital, Mannie said: “I’m a lucky person. Blessed. Life has been trying to take me out lately… from the accidents, the sicknesses, and then finding out I had AIDS and HIV. I couldn’t walk after the summer.”
The star explained he contracted the virus from an ex but stressed he is “not a victim”. Mannie added: “Yes, my ex gave me this and I didn’t know, he hid a lot of things, but I’m not a victim because I had signs.”
Mannie revealed the cost of his medication is $4,000 a month, prompting him to launch a GoFundMe with a $12,000 goal—raising over $8,400 so far. He plans to donate part of the funds to HIV charities, saying: “I do this GoFundMe to help others because it’s the right thing to do!”
Despite his struggles, he expressed gratitude for the support he’s received, posting a tearful message on Instagram and telling fans he can at least stand while he continues treatment.
Followers flooded the comments with encouragement, with one writing: “You’re always going to be our boss and CEO. Love you, proud of you for always being so transparent.” Another added: “You will get through this, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Happy belated birthday.”
According to the NHS, HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) weakens the immune system and increases the risk of serious illness. While there is no cure, effective treatment allows most people with HIV to live long, healthy lives. AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) refers to late-stage HIV, when serious illnesses develop.
