Dancehall veteran Bounty Killer is set to be honoured by municipal authorities in Kingston with the Keys to the City, alongside the renaming of a street in his home community of Seaview Gardens.
The decision was approved by the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC), marking a significant civic recognition of the entertainer’s decades-long contribution to Jamaica’s music and cultural landscape.
Officials say the planned tribute will include the designation of a roadway in Seaview Gardens in honour of the artiste, born Rodney Pryce. The move is intended to highlight his roots in the community and his influence on the global development of dancehall music.
Widely regarded as a pioneering figure in the genre, Bounty Killer has played a major role in shaping the careers of several prominent artistes while maintaining a strong presence in the industry over the years.
KSAMC representatives have pointed to his impact both locally and internationally as a key factor behind the honour. The gesture is also seen as a celebration of his enduring connection to Kingston and his contributions to Jamaican culture.
Details regarding the official presentation ceremony for the Keys to the City and the street renaming are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
