Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – A Kingston-based teacher is now facing serious gun-related charges after police say they found a 9mm pistol, ammunition, and several imitation firearms during a pre-dawn operation in Kingston 20 on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as 38-year-old Yraerc Creary, an instructor of Colbeck Avenue, Kingston 20. He has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
Reports reaching McKoy’s News are that about 5:45 a.m., members of the St. Andrew South Police Division carried out a targeted raid at Creary’s residence.
During a thorough search of the premises, detectives reportedly discovered a 9mm pistol, a magazine, and fourteen 9mm cartridges hidden inside a clothes basket in the bedroom.
The lawmen didn’t stop there — their search also turned up four imitation firearms inside a safe, along with two projectiles, two ballistic vests, and a face mask.
Creary was taken into custody on the spot and later formally charged after questioning. His court date is now being finalized.
Police investigators are probing whether the imitation weapons were connected to any criminal activities or training exercises, as they continue to crack down on illegal guns and related offences across the St. Andrew South Division.
