KFTL workers strike

KFTL Strike Halts Operations Over Union Dispute

More than 1,000 workers at Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) went on strike late Thursday night, bringing operations to a standstill.

Employees are demanding a switch from the Trade Union Congress to the Port Supervisors Union, alleging poor representation on salaries and benefits.

A meeting with management Friday morning failed to resolve the dispute. Port Supervisors Union representative Ricaado Ennis called on the Labour Ministry to schedule a representation poll.

KFTL said a meeting was scheduled at the ministry on Friday to address the industrial action.
