The Hanover Police have confirmed that John Roach, the main suspect in the triple murder that occurred on King Street in downtown Montego Bay last Tuesday, has been formally charged with the murder of his pregnant babymother, Britanny Gibbs. The incident took place in Great River, Hanover, on Tuesday, May 14.
Gibbs, who was approximately six months pregnant, was tragically shot and killed by her partner, Roach. It is alleged that he subsequently pushed her and their young son from a Nissan AD Wagon along the woodland main road in Great River.
Hanover police had been actively pursuing Roach since the May incident. His arrest in connection with the St. James triple murder provided an opportunity to charge him with Gibbs’ murder as well.
Roach and an accomplice are accused of killing 17-year-old Jaydon Bennett, 62-year-old fisherman David West, and 26-year-old Rashaun Williams on King Street last Tuesday.
Following the murders, St. James Commanding Officer Eron Samuels identified Roach and Kasheem Lewis, alias ‘Borderline,’ as the primary suspects in the triple killing and two previous shootings.
A police response to reports of a shooting in the area around 5:00 pm resulted in an exchange of gunfire between officers and the suspects. Roach and Lewis managed to escape, leaving behind two illegal firearms.
