Gunman Shot and Injured in St Andrew during Shootout with Police Have Been Charged

Jamaica Crime News, St Andrew: The St Andrew police have reported that criminal charges have now been laid against a man who was shot and injured after he challenged the police in a shootout in St Andrew on Monday afternoon of June 25th.

Our news team has learned that, the wounded gunman was charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition and Shooting with Intent, on Wednesday afternoon.  His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

Alleged Gunman Shot and Injured in St Andrew During Shootout with Police 

The Bulls Bay Police have reported that on Monday afternoon, a team of officers went to a section of the area in search of gunmen. On reaching a particular location, they saw the accused man who brandished a handgun and opened fire at the police.

The police returned the fire and during the exchange of gunfire, the gunman was shot and wounded.  A  Beretta .9 mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing sixteen live rounds was taken from him.
