Grange Hill Residents Afraid to Face Another Night Following Recent Shootings 

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: Several community members who reside in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, on Tuesday morning informed the Minister of National Security and the Commissioner of Police that they are now very afraid to sleep in their houses tonight.

The frightened residents reported that the gunmen who slaughtered seven persons including two children and a female, identified themselves as police officers.

They indicated that they have never experienced anything such as this incident before in their lives and never had they heard so many gunshots being fired.

Mother of the slain female Nadine Rowe, told our news team of her ordeal, where her daughter and her grandson were murdered right before her very eyes.

She pointed out that the men called out that they were police officers and when they refused to open the door they kicked open the main entrance and sprayed the room with bullets killing her daughter and grandson.

In the meanwhile, Mckoy’s News has also learnt that the six persons who were shot and wounded in the bloodbath, still remain at hospital in serious condition, while two other community members are still being sought.

Those killed are, 21-year-old Joyan Myers,  laborer of New Town,   Odane Drummond, otherwise called “Ziggy”  of Sterling District,  Nadine Rowe and her 11-year-old son Nicoy Bourne,  Sheldon Morgan Snr. and his 2 years -6 months old son Sheldon Morgan Jr. both of Sterling District and Tristan Brown 22-year -old unemployed of Top Lincoln District.

Reports are that gunmen travelling in a Silver motor car drove into the Sterling community shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday and opened fire on a number of persons.

When the men left the area, Drummond along with a female clothes vendor and three other males were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were all rushed to the Savanna-la-mar hospital where Drummond was pronounced dead and the other four victims admitted in serious condition.

Gunmen struck again about 8:30 p.m. in the said community, where they went to the home of the female Nadine Rowe and shot her to death along with her 2-year-old son.

The armed men did not stop there, they went to another section of the community and opened fire on Morgan and his son, killing them on the spot.

The gunmen then drove to the adjoining community called Top Lincoln where they opened fire on another group of persons at a shop killing Brown, and shooting and injuring another man.

Then about 10:00 p.m., the gunmen went to Fullers Field community and opened fire on Myers and a group of friends at a premises which occupied a shop and three houses.  The men ran from the building into an open field where they hid.

The gunmen then set the houses and the shop on fire burning them to the ground.

About 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, an alarm was raised when residents stumbled upon Myers body with gunshot wounds in the field.

A search is now on the way for two other men who were in the building with Myers and who have still not yet been found.

Also, a number of frightened community members have started to move out of the area and are seeking refuge with family members elsewhere or wherever they can be comfortable before nightfall.
