ST ELIZABETH — Police assigned to Area Three have launched an investigation following a fatal motor vehicle collision along the Front Hill main road near the Westmoreland–St Elizabeth border on Saturday evening.
Preliminary reports from law enforcement indicate that four females lost their lives in the crash, including three children and one adult woman. The incident occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. under wet road conditions.
Investigators disclosed that the victims were occupants of a Toyota Voxy motor car. The driver, a 30-year-old woman, was travelling with a 17-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, and a 10-year-old girl. Their identities have not yet been released.
According to police sources, the vehicle was en route from Whitehouse in Westmoreland to Mandeville when the driver reportedly lost control. The Toyota Voxy then collided with a truck operated by a contractor for the Jamaica Public Service Company, which was travelling in the opposite direction from St Elizabeth towards Westmoreland.
All four occupants of the motor car were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations into the exact cause of the collision are ongoing.
