HOPEWELL, Hanover – The parish of Hanover is in mourning following the sudden passing of long-serving Custos, Dr. David Stair. He was reportedly found unresponsive in the bathroom of his home in Pond Piece, Hopewell, late Thursday afternoon.
Concerns were raised earlier in the day when Dr. Stair failed to report for work and was unresponsive to calls from colleagues. Co-workers visited his residence to check on him and found the house open. Upon entering, they discovered him slumped over in the bathroom.
Authorities were immediately alerted, and a police team, led by Hanover’s police commander Superintendent Andrew Nish, arrived at the scene, which was subsequently cordoned off for processing. However, law enforcement officials have stated that no foul play is suspected in his death.
Dr. Stair, a respected medical practitioner, served at the Sandy Bay Health Centre, where he was highly regarded by both staff and patients. His contributions to the community, both as a healthcare professional and as Custos of Hanover, have left a lasting impact.
As news of his passing spreads, tributes continue to pour in from residents and colleagues who remember him as a dedicated public servant and a compassionate doctor.
