PORTMORE, St Catherine — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old farmer in the Cow Pen community, off Dyke Road, Portmore, on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Showayne Nugent.
According to the police, about 9:50 p.m., residents reported hearing explosions in the Cow Park community, and a police team was dispatched to the area.
On arrival, officers reportedly found a trail of blood leading to a dirt track near a pig pen, where Nugent’s body was discovered.
The police said the body had multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body.
The scene was processed, and Nugent was pronounced dead at the Spanish Town Hospital.
Investigators have not yet established a motive for the killing. The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch is continuing the probe.
