Convicted Jamaican drug trafficker Christopher Coke, popularly known as “Dudus,” is now expected to be released from a United States federal prison in less than two years following another reduction in his sentence.
According to records from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, Coke’s projected release date is January 29, 2028 — approximately 21 months from now.
The former Tivoli Gardens strongman is serving a 23-year sentence after pleading guilty in 2011 to racketeering conspiracy and conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon.
Reports indicate that the sentence reduction is linked to good behaviour and participation in rehabilitation programmes under provisions of the U.S. First Step Act.
Coke, 57, is currently being held at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey.
His extradition from Jamaica in 2010 followed a major security operation in West Kingston that resulted in dozens of deaths and attracted international attention.
The operation remains one of the most controversial events in Jamaica’s modern history.
