LAS VEGAS, Nevada — A Las Vegas jury has found Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty of orchestrating the 1996 killing of rap icon Tupac Shakur, marking the first conviction in the decades-old case.
The 63-year-old Davis was convicted Monday of murder with the use of a deadly weapon following a weeks-long trial.
Jurors deliberated for approximately three hours before returning the guilty verdict.
Prosecutors argued that Davis obtained a firearm and helped orchestrate the attack on Shakur and Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight after an altercation involving Davis’ nephew earlier that night.
Shakur was shot multiple times in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. He died six days later at the age of 25.
Davis, a former gang member who has previously spoken publicly about his alleged involvement in the shooting, was arrested in 2023 after authorities renewed their investigation into Shakur’s death.
He now faces the possibility of life in prison.
