ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Police in St Catherine have taken into custody Courtney “Bloodstain” Ashley, a man investigators describe as a key figure in organised criminal activity linked to several violent crimes in St Andrew.
Ashley was arrested on Monday inside the gated Phoenix Park community in Portmore, police confirmed. He had been publicly listed under the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s “Wanted Wednesdays” initiative prior to his capture.
Law enforcement officials have identified the 40-year-old as the reputed head of the Bottom Maverley Gang. In a September 2025 notice, the JCF said his last known address was in Leas Flat, Red Hills, St Andrew.
Police reports indicate that Ashley is wanted in connection with the 2017 murder of Andrew Foster and the shooting injury of another man along Fenbrook Avenue. He has also been named a person of interest in a double homicide under investigation in the St Andrew South Division.
Additionally, Ashley was implicated as a suspect in an attempted contract killing along Jacks Hill Road in July 2025. That plot was disrupted by members of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch during an operation that resulted in five suspects being killed. Ashley reportedly evaded capture at the time and was later formally listed as a person of interest.
Senior police officials have since described his arrest as a significant development in efforts to weaken gang networks and curb violent crime across the island.
