MANCHESTER, Jamaica : Manchester House Fire — A 27-year-old man perished in a fire that destroyed his family home on Bethel Street in Greenvale, Manchester, late Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified by relatives as Leonardo Brown, otherwise known as Joshua.
According to reports, firefighters were alerted to the blaze at approximately 11:17 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the house fully engulfed in flames. After bringing the fire under control and conducting cooling-down operations, firefighters discovered Brown’s charred remains inside the dwelling.
A relative of the deceased, Carlene Ricketts Lewis, expressed concern that the response of the fire brigade was hindered by a compromised utility pole in the area. She is urging the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) to address the issue to prevent similar challenges in the future.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigators have launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities are continuing their investigations as family members and residents mourn the tragic loss.
