WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A 29-year-old motorcyclist lost his life following a collision involving a motor car in his community on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Javain Hines of Hertford, Westmoreland. A pillion rider who was travelling with him sustained injuries and remains hospitalised.
According to reports from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), the incident occurred about 7:15 p.m. Hines was travelling along the Hertford main road with the pillion rider when he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a Toyota Noah motorcar.
Both individuals were taken to hospital for treatment, where Hines was later pronounced dead. The condition of the injured pillion rider has not been disclosed.
The latest fatality brings the total number of road deaths recorded since the start of the year to 53. This figure represents a decrease of 32, or approximately 38 per cent, compared to the same period last year.
