St Mary, Jamaica — A St Mary community is in shock after a young teacher was allegedly shot and killed by her policeman spouse, who then reportedly turned the weapon on himself in an apparent murder-suicide attempt on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old D’Johnnay “Moya” Graham, an infant school teacher.
Reports are that about 9:15 p.m., the couple was at their home in Richmond, St Mary, when an argument erupted over a phone call Graham had received. The dispute escalated, and the policeman — a constable assigned to the St Andrew North Division — allegedly used his service pistol to shoot Graham in the head. He then reportedly turned the weapon on himself.
Graham was pronounced dead at the scene.
The constable was rushed to the Annotto Bay Hospital, where he remains admitted in serious but stable condition.
Police investigations are ongoing.
