Old Harbour, St Catherine — The St Catherine South police have confirmed that a 20-year-old woman who was shot during a home invasion in Marlie Mount on Monday morning has succumbed to her injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Dajahmae Wright, a resident of Marlie Mount and mother of a three-year-old child.
According to reports, around 4:40 a.m., Wright was at home with her child when a group of armed men posing as police personnel approached the house, shouting “police.” Upon opening the door, Wright was met with a barrage of gunfire. She sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, while her child was shot in the left leg.
Both were rushed to the hospital, where Wright was pronounced dead. The child remains hospitalised.
The motive behind the brutal attack is still unknown.
The Old Harbour Criminal Investigations Branch has launched a probe and is appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
