Westmoreland Mother Arrested for Allegedly Setting Fire to Her Own House, Burning Her 8-Year-Old Son to Death

Westmoreland, Jamaica: Westmoreland Mother Arrested – A 29-year-old mother from Grange Hill, in Westmoreland, has been taken into police custody for questioning in connection with a fire that destroyed her board dwelling house in Top Lincoln, Westmoreland, on Friday night, claiming the life of her 8-year-old son, Jahmiel Richardson.

The mother, identified as Sherone McDonald, otherwise called ‘Tash’, is said to have started acting strangely recently.

Residents in the community stated that McDonald, a hotel worker, began acting strangely weeks prior to Friday night’s incident, leading to her being tied up and transported to the hospital, where she received medical treatment.

It is further reported that she refused to take the medication she was prescribed and continued to act strangely leading up to about 11:00 pm on Friday when she was allegedly seen burning some of her clothing at the house, while chanting that residents in the area were working obeah on her.

Sometime later, residents discovered the house on fire and raised an alarm.

They joined forces and attacked the blaze with buckets upon hearing young Jahmiel, a Grade 3 student at the Peggy Barry High School, calling out for his mother inside the burning house.

Their attempts to put out the blaze proved futile, and they called the fire department.

Upon the arrival of the firemen, they could only manage to carry out a cooling-down operation because the house and all its contents were completely destroyed.

Hours later, they carried out a search of the rubble, which led to the discovery of what remained of the student’s burnt body.
