Utah, USA – Authorities in Utah have arrested a 22-year-old man, Tyler Robinson, in connection with the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University (UVU) earlier this week.
Robinson faces multiple serious charges including aggravated murder, firearm discharge causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice, according to police reports. Investigators say he is believed to have acted alone.
Law enforcement officials report that Robinson allegedly confessed or implied his involvement to a family member, who then contacted authorities. Surveillance footage and FBI video show a person matching Robinson’s description on campus, including footage of him allegedly jumping from a rooftop near the location of the shooting.
A rifle thought to have been used in the attack was recovered, along with bullet casings engraved with phrases such as “Hey fascist, catch!” and “bella ciao.”
The FBI and local police continue to investigate the motive behind the attack, while UVU remains on high alert. Robinson is currently in custody as formal charging documents are prepared.
Political commentators and public figures have expressed shock over the incident, emphasizing the ongoing concerns about political extremism and campus safety.
