ST JAMES, Jamaica — Two men believed to have been involved in the robbery of a Montego Bay supermarket on Tuesday night—an incident that left two police officers injured—were fatally shot in separate targeted operations by law enforcement on Wednesday evening.
According to police sources, the first suspect was killed during a confrontation with officers in Go Peace Lane, Salt Spring, around 4:00 p.m. A firearm, blood-stained clothing, shoes, and coins suspected to have been stolen from the supermarket were reportedly recovered at the scene.
Less than an hour later, police tracked down a second suspect in the Albion Lane area. During the operation, the man allegedly engaged officers in a gunfight and was fatally shot. An illegal firearm was also seized from the scene.
Authorities have intensified operations across St James as they continue to pursue other individuals linked to Tuesday night’s supermarket robberies. Investigators are working to determine if the two slain men were part of a larger criminal network operating in the parish.
Meanwhile, the two injured police officers remain under medical care. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.
