St Mary, Jamaica: A fatal motor vehicle crash along the Agualta Vale main road in St Mary early Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a man and left a police constable in critical condition.
The accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. when a 2014 Toyota Mark X, carrying five occupants from Kingston, skidded on the wet roadway. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to run off the road. One passenger was thrown from the vehicle and later succumbed to his injuries at the Annotto Bay Public Hospital. Authorities have confirmed that he was 25 years old, though his identity has not yet been released.
A police constable who was also in the vehicle sustained severe injuries, including a broken arm and head trauma. He remains in critical but stable condition at the hospital. The three other occupants suffered minor injuries, received medical attention, and were subsequently discharged.
Wednesday’s crash follows a similar early morning accident in St Mary on Monday, March 17, which also resulted in the death of a man. Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution, especially during nighttime travel, as investigations into both incidents continue.
