Two men are dead following a brazen daylight shooting on North Street in downtown Kingston on Tuesday morning. The incident, which unfolded in broad daylight, has left the community in shock and prompted a swift response from law enforcement.
Another person was reportedly injured in the shooting, but details about their condition have not been confirmed. The identities of the deceased have yet to be released as investigations continue.
“We can confirm the deaths, but we have no details at this time,” stated Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps, head of the Kingston Western police.
In the wake of the shooting, traffic in the area has been diverted as investigators work to process the crime scene and gather evidence. The daylight violence raises concerns about safety in the area, especially following Monday night’s tragic slaying of five men during a football match in the east Kingston community of Rockfort. That mass shooting led to a 48-hour curfew being imposed in the vicinity.
