KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two inmates at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre have been charged with murder following the death of a fellow prisoner after an alleged assault inside the facility.
The accused are 22-year-old Carlton Thompson and 46-year-old Paul Williams, who have both been charged in connection with the killing of 60-year-old David Johnson.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. on June 18, when Thompson and Williams allegedly became involved in an altercation with Johnson. During the confrontation, Johnson was reportedly attacked and assaulted by the two men.
The injured inmate was taken to hospital on June 19, where he later died while receiving treatment.
A post-mortem examination later determined that Johnson died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries.
Following investigations, detectives charged Thompson and Williams with murder.
A date for their appearance before the court is currently being finalised.
