Two children were killed in a mid-morning house fire in Smith Lane, Central Kingston, on Saturday.
Dead are seven-year-old Keriecia Hutchinson and her four-year-old brother, Samson Cameron.
Keriecia was a Grade One student at Calabar All-Age School, while Samson attended Calabar Basic School.
Residents said the siblings were full of life as grief and anger swept through the community following the tragedy.
A dispute later broke out among residents over claims surrounding the circumstances in which the children were left inside the house. Police fired several shots into the air to separate the women involved, and at least three people were taken into custody.
Residents said they attempted to put out the fire before firefighters arrived. One neighbour reportedly soaked himself in water and entered the burning house in an attempt to rescue the children but was unsuccessful.
The cause of the fire had not been determined up to press time.
