A fire was reported at the Petrojam refinery on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston Thursday night.
Preliminary information suggests the refinery was undergoing routine maintenance and had been shut down when a leak developed during the restart process. The leak is believed to have ignited, triggering the fire.
Emergency crews responded quickly and were able to contain the blaze within minutes.
There have been no reports of injuries so far.
The cause of the fire and the extent of any damage are still being assessed. Petrojam has not yet indicated whether the incident will have any impact on its operations.
Further details are expected as investigations continue.
