Kingston, Jamaica – The US-based National Hurricane Center (NHC) says it’s keeping a close watch on a tropical wave currently moving across the Windward Islands. The update came in the agency’s 8:00 a.m. bulletin on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
According to the NHC, the system is expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds as it tracks westward across the region. However, forecasters note that the wave’s fast forward motion may limit development over the next day or two.
Still, the system has a medium chance — 60 percent — of developing into a more organized weather system once it slows down in the Caribbean Sea.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Service of Jamaica has issued an advisory ahead of National Heroes’ Day on Monday, warning that isolated morning showers are likely across eastern parishes, while central and western areas could see scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
Forecasters say it will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy in most areas throughout the day.
