Trainee Constable Under Investigation: A 21-year-old police constable in training is facing serious allegations after an incident involving his colleague’s financial account.
The trainee constable, currently stationed in St. Ann, allegedly borrowed a fellow trainee’s laptop on Tuesday, May 21. According to reports by the St. Ann police, he used the laptop to illegally access his colleague’s Police Credit Union platform and allegedly withdrew $50,000 from the account.
The trainee constable later returned the laptop. However, the owner discovered the missing funds and confronted the accused.
Upon visiting the bank in person, the officer whose money was missing was informed that the $50,000 had been returned to his account. The bank indicated that the refund was allegedly made by another trainee police officer, who was not involved in the incident.
A report was filed, and surveillance footage from the institution was reviewed. The accused constable was allegedly observed conducting the transaction to return the missing funds.
The matter has been reported to his superiors, who have launched an investigation into the allegations.
