St. Andrew, Jamaica – Motorists and commuters in St. Andrew should prepare for traffic changes as a section of Waltham Park Road, between Delacree Lane and Howard Avenue, will be reduced to single-lane traffic starting Tuesday. The restriction will last for two weeks to facilitate critical drainage improvement works.
According to Stephen Shaw, Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), the project involves clearing a blocked culvert, which requires cutting the roadway and removing the top of the 1800 mm culvert for better access. A reinforced concrete catch basin will also be installed to enhance drainage.
During the period, motorists entering Delacree Lane must use Howard Avenue, while those heading to Hagley Park Road from Waltham Park Road can take East Road, then Rainford Road before rejoining Hagley Park Road.
The NWA is urging all road users to exercise caution, obey posted warning signs, and follow the instructions of flag personnel within the construction zone to ensure safety.
