Kingston, Jamaica – A 40-year-old Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) corporal is under investigation following the reported accidental shooting of his 25-year-old girlfriend on Crescent Road in Kingston 10 on Monday evening.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. after an argument between the couple escalated. During the confrontation, the woman allegedly threw stones and bottles at the soldier. Fearing for his safety, the soldier reportedly pulled his licensed firearm. However, in the midst of the altercation, he slipped, and a round was accidentally discharged, striking his girlfriend in the right leg.
The injured woman was rushed to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the matter to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting. The police have not indicated whether any charges will be laid at this time.
