A late-night incident in Rhules Pen, Clarendon has left a family in mourning after a two-year-old girl was killed in what police believe was an दुर्घ accident.
The child has been identified as Kimberley Burrell.
According to police reports, the incident occurred about 10:45 p.m. on Saturday while a relative was reportedly learning to operate a motor vehicle. During the process, the driver is said to have mistakenly shifted the vehicle into drive instead of reverse.
Investigators indicated that the accelerator was pressed, causing the vehicle to surge forward uncontrollably. The toddler was struck during the incident.
She was immediately transported to hospital for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
