Tito Jackson, a founding member of the legendary family band The Jackson 5, has died at the age of 70. His death was confirmed by his nephew, Siggy Jackson.
According to reports, Tito passed away on September 15,, after suffering a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma.
Tito Jackson was an original member of The Jackson 5, alongside his brothers Michael, Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon. The group achieved massive success in the 1970s with hit songs like “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There,” and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Tito continued to perform with his brothers as “The Jacksons,” with recent performances as late as September 8, 2024, in Surrey, England.
Outside of The Jackson 5, Tito pursued a solo career, releasing two albums: “Tito Time” in 2016 and “Under Your Spell” in 2021. Known for his love of blues music, Tito often toured with blues and funk bands, including the BB King Blues Band. He is survived by his three sons, Taj, TJ, and Taryll, who were part of the R&B group 3T.
