A motor vehicle crash in York Town, Clarendon, on Sunday claimed the lives of two police constables and left two others hospitalized. The deceased officers have been identified as Constable Jessica West and Constable Shawn Atkins, both serving in the Area 3 police division.
According to reports, around 6:40 p.m., the four officers were traveling in a police service vehicle along the York Town main road toward May Pen when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then overturned in a ditch.
Emergency responders rushed all four officers to the hospital, but sadly, West and Atkins were pronounced dead on arrival. The other two officers were admitted for treatment.
The incident has left the JCF and community in mourning as an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
