St Catherine, Jamaica — Three Haitian nationals who were reportedly discovered in a shed in Old Harbour Bay have been remanded in custody following their appearance in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.
The individuals charged with illegal entry are Radelairie Desir, Emanae Michael, and Eliza Syllable, all residents of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
When the matter was called up before Parish Court Judge Genetta Smikle, the court arranged legal representation for the accused ahead of their next scheduled appearance on April 14.
Police reports indicate that about 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, officers conducting patrol duties in the Old Harbour Bay area came upon a shed where the two men and one woman were found.
Following questioning by the police, the trio reportedly indicated that they are Haitian nationals who had entered Jamaica without legal authorization.
The Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency was later notified of the situation, after which the three individuals were formally charged with illegal entry.
They remain in custody pending their next court date.
