Portland, Jamaica – Three men have been charged following a police operation targeting suspected lottery scamming activities at a multi-storey house in the Mount Pleasant district on Monday.
The accused are 23-year-old Mario Barnes, 21-year-old Duvhaun Perry, and 20-year-old Omar Cummings, all of addresses in St Andrew and St Thomas. They have been charged with possession of identity information.
Police reported that an intelligence-driven operation led officers armed with a search warrant to the premises. As the team approached the property, occupants allegedly attempted to dispose of mobile phones and other electronic devices by throwing them into nearby bushes.
A search of the house resulted in 10 individuals being found inside. Investigators also seized several mobile phones and four motor vehicles from the location.
According to law enforcement officials, the electronic devices reportedly contained multiple files with personal information belonging to individuals overseas.
The investigation remains ongoing.
